The only way to definitively diagnose sleep apnea, is to have a Polysomnogram, or overnight sleep study. These tests are performed by sleep specialists at a clinical facility for neurodiagnostic testing like Carolina Sleep Medicine, Inc. Brain waves, eye movements, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, electrical activity of muscles and heart rhythm are measured and continuously recorded in order to give a complete picture of sleep cycles and stages. |
